Will It Be A Happy 21st Birthday For Andy Murray?
Will Andy Murray have something to celebrate later on today? He is facing up to world number two Rafael Nadal at the Hamburg Masters at 5 pm today. This is the third time the duo have had a show-down, 21 year-old Nadal is s*** hot on clay having won the Monte Carlo and Barcelona titles on clay, whilst Murray is known to lose his rag on the red stuff!
Murray said: "It'll be a good experience for me; he's obviously playing unbelievable on clay."
But Murray is confident having won games against both Dimitry Tursunov and Gilles Simon this week. He would do well to take advantage of Nadal's less than 100% form and early losses in Rome last week. Murray said:
"I know he had a few problems with his feet last week so I don't know if he's got rid of them yet but if I play like I did (against Simon) I can make a match of it. I'm obviously not expected to win but I do feel like I can give him a decent run for his money on the clay."
Nadal's foot blister is being a total pain and can be blamed for the two hours he needed to beat Potito Starace on Wednesday. He admitted:
"I didn't have much time to practice because of a blister on my foot, so I am reasonably happy to get through. I have had two tough games against Andy already and I expect the same."
