US Open: Tiger In Trouble!

It is called the US Open, but is it really? Open, we mean? Given Tiger Woods' steely grip on golf in general and the Majors in particular, the PGA might be best advised to think about renaming this tournament. But this year, all those Tiger hunters have reason for renewed confidence; Woods is struggling.
The great one has clearly not been at his best this season – no other player in the world would consider finishing joint second in the US Masters a disaster, other than Woods, who did – and it's mainly because of a knee problem. Tiger's left knee is not in great shape and he's barely played a full round since an operation. That was only a week or so ago, and apparently he played off a buggy throughout, too. Not a good sign. He bailed out after 17 holes.
Add something else into the equation, and you begin to see why Tiger's rivals can start licking their lips. His US Open record is hardly inspiring, with just two (yes; just two, this is Tiger we're talking about here) victories from 11 tournaments. It's his worst record in a Major.
So. Tiger Woods. An iffy left knee, little match practice, a poor – by his standards – record in the tournament. Time to write him off? Well, if so, do it at your peril. He'll still be the all-out favourite in most people's eyes.
