Turkish Grand Prix Anthony Davidson's Woes

Anthony Davidson Gets The Hump

Spotted this in the classified ads section of the newspaper earlier today: 'Driver who loves to razz around corners really, really, really fast while shouting "vroooooooom! vrooooom!" seeks high-powered company who like making and running mega-quick motors. Happy to work weekends, but likes getting paid for it'.

That's pretty much the plea coming from Anthony Davidson, the British F1 driver who has been left high and dry and without a ride after the sad collapse of the Super Aguri team. Already denied a place in the Turkish Grand Prix this weekend, the Oxfordshire-based team has since officially withdrawn from the 2008 world championship due to financial difficulties and is now under administration.

All this leaves Davidson – one of a quartet of Brits who started the season (the others being Lewis Hamilton, David Coulthard and Jenson Button) – hoping that another team comes and snaps him up. It might be a hard sell – the 29-year-old didn't manage to score a single point in 21 races with his previous employers. But Davidson believes he can do a job for someone.

"It's a difficult time of year to deal with a blow like this," he said. "But I'm still fully confident in my ability behind the wheel. I'll hang on in there, and I have to stick to F1. It's what I have to do, what I'm trained to do, and I really feel I have unfinished business in Formula One."

It's a tough break for a man who only landed an F1 drive at the relatively late age of 27. Is his big time racing career over after less than two years? If you're an F1 team, you know where to look…
