Make Haye While The Sun Shines…

It's not often that we get treated to a big old punch up in the old style but this weekend we're in for a treat reminiscent of the Benn-Eubank School of Brawling. David Haye and Enzo Maccarinelli get ready to square up to each other at London's O2 Arena for this eagerly anticipated cruiserweight clash.

No wonder promoter Frank Warren has been getting his knickers in a knot: "If there is one fight I would buy a ticket to watch it would be Maccarinelli-Haye. I'm in the business of delivering big fights and this is certainly a real fight for the boxing fans and media and one that they have been clamouring for."

27 year-old Londoner, Haye is the WBC / WBA world champion and he took that title in November in his clash against Frenchman Jean-Marc Mormeck and has won 20 out of 21 of his fights. Swansea's Maccarinelli held onto his WBO belt after stopping Mohamed Azzaoui in the fourth round at the Millennium Stadium in December – he has 28 out of his 29 fights with 21 knockouts to his name.

Both guys are well matched in attitude and calibre so this shall definitely be a fight to keep all eyes on.  Macca is well documented as having been keen to fight Haye and said: "This is the fight I've wanted and if it hadn't happened, the British public would have missed out. We've got two boys who pretty much fight the same way - we like to take the other person out, rip the other guy's head off."

The only thing that we think could swing this is the weight issue; Haye had to shed close to two stones to drop from heavy to cruiserweight, whilst Macca will be the lighter of the two fighters. Whether it's the quick fire fight that most people are expecting or not it's bound to be brutal!
