FA Cup Final: Portsmouth v Cardiff City

So far it´s been a decent 2008 for the Welsh.
Shane Williams and Co winning the Six Nations, Joe Calzaghe getting up off the canvas to beat Bernard Hopkins and Tom Jones shaving off that ridiculous goatee beard (my Mum reckons they look like fannies).
But if Cardiff City beat Portsmouth on Saturday at Wembley it will eclipse them all. A bunch of lower league Taffs winning the FA Cup? Even Dylan Thomas with a bottle of gin on board could not make it up.
By jove it´s enough to have every Three Lions supporting, shaven headed, bulldog tattooed, Sun-reading, St George flag-waving patriot foaming at the chops with fury. But get this. One of the great ironies is that Cardiff actually have more Englishmen in their first team squad than Portsmouth.
While Harry Redknapp has been raiding the Africa Cup of Nations for players, Dave Jones has begged, borrowed and stolen from within the domestic leagues.
Just eight of Pompey´s first team squad (26) are English compared to Cardiff´s ten (21 players). All in all Cardiff have twice as many British players as the south coast side. But that won´t count for anything once the match kicks off. Bodog have a huge array of markets on the game available with Premiership side Pompey odds-on favourites.
On paper Pompey should breeze it but this game will be played on grass and the Welsh look decent value to pull off another shock in what has been an extraordinary season for British football.
