FA Cup: Barnsley Flying High With Bird

Bodoglife.co.uk report a flood of money for Barnsley to beat Chelsea on Saturday after persistent rumours that former cricket umpire Dickie Bird will be officiating the FA Cup quarter final. As passions spill over in West Yorkshire, the bookies fear that the avid Barnsley fan will find it impossible to maintain his stoic neutral stance that was the hallmark of his umpiring career.
"Eee aye lad, them fancy dans from London won´t know what´s hit em with Mr Bird in charge," said local whippet trainer Stanley Eckerthwaite (through the help of an interpreter).
It is believed that Chelsea hit-man Didier Drogba could be singled out by Bird for extra close scrutiny.
"He´ll tek no nonsense from that diving Drogba and they´ll probably be down to ten men before they know eet," added Eckerthwaite.
Mouthy Ashley Cole is also another Chelsea player insiders fear could face the backlash of Bird´s no-nonsense attitude to player dissent.
