Dwain Chambers Dropped By Castleford

What is Dwain Chambers to do now? He has been released by Super League Club Castleford Tigers after having a month-long trial with the club. It was considered to be a lifeline for the disgraced sprinter who caused controversy after his use of banned steroid THG. Having been banned for two years he made an abortive attempt to play American football and now his foray into rugby league has ended the same way.
The club said that at age of 30 he didn't have much time to create a niche for himself within the sport and probably wouldn't make it into the first team. Chief executive Richard Wright said:
"Our coaching team feels that he would need a significant amount of additional time to prove whether or not he would be capable of making the grade in Super League and time is something that we don't have."
Dwain must be gutted is all we can say, his manager Nick Collins said:
"Whilst disappointed, Dwain is comfortable with and understands the decision."
Having had the door of athletics firmly shut in his face, Chambers may have to appeal against his British Olympic Association ban. Wright added:
"Many people watched Dwain in the trial game and he has certainly won over some of the doubters and proved that the trial was more than simply a publicity stunt. During his trial period Dwain has been a joy to have around. His work ethic and professionalism have been exemplary."
