Dwain Chambers Dream Ends: Bodog Beat UK

For Dwain Chambers, the Olympic dream is all over. There was never any other way this story was going to end, and today's decision not to overturn his lifetime Olympics ban will surprise no-one. The sprinter – who tested positive for the steroid THG in 2003 – has been competing again in athletics meets and has been in impressive form; in terms of times, he's the best 100m runner in the country.

But his greatest challenge was always going to be overturning the British Olympic Association by-law that banned him – or any other British athlete to fall foul of doping laws – from competing in future Olympics. And today, a High Court ruling upheld the ban. Chambers, realistically, has no place else to go now.

The British selectors will no select their final squad for Beijing, knowing Chambers is out of the picture. On one hand, they may feel sorry to be without the man who won silver at the 60m in March's world indoor championships, and the man who won 100m at the British trials last weekend. They would have obliged to pick him. But the BOA have maintained a hard line, and should be applauded for that stance. Perhaps other countries should follow suit.

Never mind Dwain, at least we've got the Olympics to place some tasty little wagers on. Check out Bodog Sport for more.
