Arsene Wenger Refuses To Listen

Arsene Wenger

Oh Arsene, Arsene, what happened? Things were all going so well, and then…well, disaster frankly. Nobody gave Arsenal a hope in hell's chance at the beginning of the season, but it looked like they might compete on all fronts at one stage.

Arsene Wenger is a frustrating man. A brilliant tactician and a shrewd manager, but annoyingly stubborn. His team is too inexperienced and his squad is too small. And yet he still insists that he's only going to bring in one player in the summer.

Bringing in one player to solve their current situation would be like sticking a small Elastoplast on a gaping sword wound. Sure, Wenger has made the likes of Flamini, Fabregas, Clichy and Adebayor into world class players, but where's the support? Now Adebayor's not scoring and poor old Fabregas is clearly knackered to death, there's nobody to do the business.

Against Manchester United yesterday, they had a real chance. Man U's defence looked shaky, Scholes looked a yard or so off the pace, and they had all the telling possession. But then it all went wrong again. And what's worse, you just knew it was going to happen.

Arsenal need at least four players in the summer, and experienced ones at that. They're brilliant to watch, but they just don't have the strength in depth that Chelsea or Man United have. And without that, they won't win a thing.
