The European Poker Tour is scheduled to roll into Dublin next week for the fourth stop on this season's schedule. The €8,000 (£5,578) buy-in EPT - Dublin will be held at the Royal Dublin Society from Oct. 30-Nov. 3, 2007. Last year's event attracted 389 of Europe's best players, with English poker pro Roland De Wolfe taking home the €554,300 (£386,500) first-place prize.
This year's event has room for 600 players and this should be a good indication of the number of players who will turn out. Only one of the three events so far has not reached its cap and EPT – Barcelona only missed by 57 with 543 entrants. Already confirmed for the tournament are poker pros Dario Minieri, Noah Boeken, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Luca Pagano and WSOP bracelet winner Katja Thater.
So far, this season of the EPT has attracted larger crowds than in previous years and as a result is growing in other areas. Said European Poker Tour founder John Duthie, "With an increased buy-in this year for most events, we are going to be seeing far bigger prize pools and several new events have been added to the schedule."
There are six tournaments left on this season's schedule including destinations like Prague, Copenhagen, Warsaw and the Bahamas, which apparently now is part of Europe. The season wraps up in Monte Carlo, Monaco, with the €10,600 (£7,400) EPT Grand Final, which attracted 706 players and paid out €1,825,010 (£1.28 million) to eventual winner poker pro Gavin Griffin last year.
The upcoming EPT events are all part of the Bodog " Player's Choice" package. Winners of these packages will have the choice to enter a WPT or EPT event with a $10,000 or less buy-in and receive cool gear, bonus contracts and incentives to play while they kick back with first-rate service, hang out with poker legends and bask in TV celebrity.
