Wino Wins Award!

A rather embarrassed London cabbie was forced to get on stage and accept a prestigious Ivor Novello award in the absence of his wayward daughter Amy 'where are you' Winehouse.
Daddy dearest Mitch accepted her award for 'Best Song Musically and Lyrically' for 'Love is a Losing Game' he said: "She is getting better and she'd like to send her love to everyone at the Ivors who first recognised her talent."
The ever familiar and rather boring 'will she, wont she turn up' narrative was the theme to the lead up to the ceremony. Although the junkie star did manage to dispel rumours that she'll burst into flames when exposed to sunlight and arrived at the afternoon ceremony, albeit a rather fashionable 3 hours late.
The reason for her lateness is not yet known but we're betting a shipment from Columbia, Pete Doherty and a crack pipe might have had something to do with it. Credit where credit's due: give the girl an award for making it out of the house fully dressed and the right side of midnight. Basic life skills for your average Joe, but it's the simple things in life that our Amy struggles with.
There's never a shortage of celebrity saviours stepping up to lend a supportive hand to the fallen star. The latest in the line to whip Amy into shape is the original private dancer herself Tina Turner. I'm not sure if Tina is aware that the first Ivor Novello award given to Amy was for a song based on her resistance to rehab and let's face it not a lot has change since that award. Good ol' Tina's no fool though and casts serious doubts, saying she believed if Amy "was clean, she would be celebrating now." Instead of hugging a crack pipe with filthy bag Doherty.
Other winners of the evening were Take That who won the 'Most Performed Work Award' for Shine.
