Was Sharon Stone Right To Grovel?

It's taken less than a week but Sharon Stone has now made a not quite grovelling apology to China. The 50-year-old Basic Instinct minx suggested in Cannes last week that the earthquake in China could have been the result of bad karma over the government's treatment of Tibet.
"I'm not happy about the way the Chinese are treating the Tibetans because I don't think anyone should be unkind to anyone else," Stone said last Thursday during a Cannes Film Festival red-carpet interview with Hong Kong's Cable Entertainment News. "And then this earthquake and all this stuff happened, and then I thought, is that karma? When you're not nice that the bad things happen to you?"
In that case what the hell has happened to Sharon to pay her back for Basic Instinct 2?
Now most people have got an opinion about the Chinese regime and its treatment of Tibet but when thousands die and 5 million are left homeless you zip it don't you, particularly on a TV interview watched by, er Chinese people?
It was a classic case of celebrity foot in mouth and Shazza may as well have flashed her bits in the Chinese president, Hu Jintao's, face whilst sat astride the Great Wall of China. One Chinese news agency called Sharon 'The Public enemy of all mankind', rumours persist that she had been banned from entering the country.
Chinese bloggers have been blogging away and giving us such gems as, "Don't give any attention to this old lady - don't watch her movies, don't buy the products she represents," read one. Another called her a "dirty swine".
In response to a China Daily story on Stone, one reader wrote, "All Chinese should boycott her to let her know our power … She should go to hell."
And there dear readers lies the crux. China is becoming an increasingly important market for Hollywood and the west and Ms Stone has allegedly got four films on the way out, all slated for release in China in the next year or so. Could this be the reason behind the apology?
Well a bit of that and the fact that she has been dropped from Christian Dior's Chinese ads – so funnily enough, she's now very, very, totally sorry.
"Due to my inappropriate words and acts during the interview, I feel deeply sorry and sad about hurting Chinese people," Sharon says in a statement. "I am willing to take part in the relief work of China's earthquake, and wholly devote myself to helping affected Chinese people."
All she needs now is for China to let her in so she can start building some houses for the our victims of the quake, watch this space.

Firstly let me just say that this is the first time I have commented on any blog, but we all have to start somewhere and at least this story is something I can realte to…On the negative side I think the picture at the top of the blog with the man smoking the cigar is quite scary and doesn't encorage you to look much further! The white text on the black background is also a little difficult to read.
I am someone who belives in Karma and what goes around comes around but I think Sharon should really have kept her thoughts to herself on this one. The massive loss of innocent lives cannot be simply put down to the bad karma of China's treatment of Tibet and surely all those innocents do not deserve to be punished for what is out of their hands. Sharon really should have kept quiet and kept her opinion to herself. Commenst like that do nothing to help those that need the help the most, although I'm sure there are many more poeple out there that believe bad karma does eventually catch up with you. I'm not sure though whether bad karma or simply our slow destruction of the earth we live in is to blame for the numerous natural disasters ocuring all over the world. Whichever way you look at it there are stronger powers that be that are obivoulsy at work here
