Pete Doherty Back In Jail

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,

Pete Doherty

Occasional musician, jogger, scientologist and ex-druggie Pete Doherty is taking a break from live performances for 14 weeks.  Management have blamed overwork and exhaustion for the break. Oh hang on, sorry, our mistake, Pete will soon be looking for veins in a cell with Amy Winehouse's Blake Incarcerated as he's been banged up like a good-un for yup, you guessed it drugs offences and breaking his probation.

Now call us cynical but we weren't really buying this clean cut Pete image – despite the numerous tales of jogging, marathons and scientology. In its murky past Beat has been acquainted with a bottle of Benilyn (Drowsy) and we recognise the signs. Falling into Amy Winehouse's gaff at 4 am looking like you've just nicked a tramps clothes with your pupils dilated isn't the sign of somebody that is cleaning himself up.

So it comes as absolutely no surprise that Pete is off to do another stretch at Her Majesty's pleasure.  Last time it happened we were subjected to Babyshambles whimsical / shambolic (shite) album 'Down in Albion' – we hope the guards remove any writing materials and musical instruments this time round.

Pete has been given 14 weeks for failing a regular drug test. Regular?  We can only assume that Pete was following Withnail's example and had procured himself a vat of uncontaminated urine for previous tests.  The failed test broke the terms of a four month suspended sentence from October when he was caught with the standard mix of heroin, crack and ketamine.  Pete being Pete he'd also wound up the magistrates by regularly turning up late for probation meeting.

According to a court spokesman, the 'Babyshambles' frontman has been jailed for a "breach of time keeping, non-compliance of his order and using different drugs."  A pretty average day for our Pete I'm sure you'd all agree.

Judge Davinder Lachar's sentence will now scupper any chances of Pete playing at The Royal Albert Hall later this month and the Sony Walkman party and Glastonbury in June.  Doherty has also been asked to pay a 400 pounds fine for driving without insurance and a 75 pounds fine for having no MOT certificate. When it rains….

A spokesperson from EMI said, "Unfortunately Peter has had to postpone his show at the Royal Albert Hall on April 26th. The show is due to be rescheduled and all tickets will be valid for the new date once it has been announced. Peter was very much looking forward to the show and would like to offer his sincerest apologies to all his fans and all those concerned."

So finally a 'celebrity' druggie has been jailed, the UN will be pleased. For more shambolic celebrity shenanigans check out Bodog's Celebrity Specials.
