Mariah Scary Divas It Up In London
The ever so slightly scary and little bit wrong diva, Mariah Carey is back and mincing around London on the promotional trail for her latest single "Touch my body" which has gone straight to the top of the US billboard charts.
Taken from her new album E = MC "Touch my body" is her 18th number one beating Elvis Presley's 17 number one's, an achievement she describes as a festive moment. Confused? So were we. Despite the mathematical equation she's not the sharpest tool in the shed. But we must congratulate Scary for making very little talent go a very long way. Who needs a Stephen Hawking brain anyway when you've sold 180 million records worldwide?
Earlier this week in Miss Scary Carey threw a hissy and hung up on Radio 1's DJ Reggie Yates for misquoting the number as being a measly 80 million. He said; "I think she took it as an insult."
A concern for global warming and carbon neutrality is clearly absent from the diva agenda. She allegedly insisted on a £50,000 antique table covered in silk cloth be flown over from New York for her book signing at Selfridges. Not to mention insisting on her favourite mineral water to be flown from Fiji and as many Krispy Kreme donuts as she could eat – but not the ones you get in the UK, oh no, the identical ones from the US please.
So as well as outselling most artists it's good to see she can still out diva the best of them too. A claim she is the first to admit herself; "I guess I am a diva in many ways. I can be difficult and a little rigid about what I want."
We'd say more ridiculous than rigid but you can decide for yourself. Here is a list of her other "rigid" demands this week;
£6500 1st class flight for her Jack Russell.
11 bodyguards to stand over her in a restaurant to prevent people seeing her eat.
A humidifier in her dressing room.
£10,000 gym installed next to her penthouse (to work off all those Krispy Kremes we presume)
Straws - she only drinks through straws and we guess somebody to hold said bottle while she sucks.
Although she's yet to top her greatest diva demand from back in 2005 when she demanded a red carpet lined with candles be laid out for her 2am arrival at the London Baglioni Hotel.
