Leona Lewis's Heart Bleeds State Side
Leona Lewis has taken her bleeding heart state side and the yanks bleeding love it! Her debut US single 'Bleeding Love' has leapt into the US charts at one number. Making Leona the first UK female to reach No.1 in America since Kim Wilde hit the US No.1 spot in 1987 with 'You keep me hanging on.' Bleeding Hell! It's only week one though so give it another 16 weeks and the yanks' ears will be bleeding just like ours.
Liam Howlett from the Prodigy famously celebrated getting to No.1 in the US with "a big wank". We are taking a punt and suggesting Leona may have found another way to celebrate, but you never know….
After a gushing appearance on Oprah she declared "I don't drink alcohol, I've never done drugs and I'm not the type of person to come stumbling out of nightclubs." Famous last words, sounds very much like Britney's saving myself for marriage statement – look how well that turned out.
It's not been all success for the nation's sweetheart Leona. She recently made an offer on a house in Hackney for £500,000 but once the vendors discovered who the offer was from they upped the price by £100,000. A friend said; "It was quite upsetting. They had their heart set on a property and offered the asking price. But the seller thought as Leona was a pop star she could afford more, so upped the price. It's cruel." I'm sure reports of Leona being the first X-Factor millionaire hasn't helped negotiations. A position denied by Leona's father: "It's a myth Leona is a millionaire. She earns enough to live on, but that's it." We're sure that's the story they're sticking to until the ink (or blood) has dried on the contract.
Still if things don't improve the man who made it all possible, Mr Cowell, can dip his hand into his deep pockets. Not only has he paid off an $80,000 mortgage for a random bleeding heart on Oprah he's also taken delivery of a £800,000 Bugatti Veyron this week. At least somebody has made a few quid off of Leona's haemorrhaging ventricles.
