Goldenballs Becks' Golden Showers

A few years ago a small drinks brand called Coca Cola released an ill-fated bottled water to the UK. Dasani it was called and allegedly recycled bog water was its source. In a country obsessed with water from virgin streams in far flung mountain ranges the thought of paying a quid for a bottle of Thames Water understandably fell flat on its arse despite doing rather well in the US of A.
Ironically, these days the alleged Coke bog water might have been slightly more palatable to the greener, cuddlier and more environmentally sound UK consumer concerned with carbon footprints and plastic bottles in landfill.
Not so David Beckham, the man with more air miles than Buzz Aldrin, more cars than Ford and a yeti sized carbon footprint now wants to launch his own range of mineral water. We can see why, the world obviously needs another brand of water and who better to put his name to it than Goldenballs himself?
The LA Galaxy pub player is currently weighing up whether to ditch his £2million contract with Pepsi as he worries about promoting the fizzy sugar-filled brown stuff. Desperate to keep him on board Pepsi may even help him 'develop' the water. Quite how much development a bottle of water needs is anyone's guess but we're sure David will soon be strutting around in a white coat helping out the Pepsi lab rats.
A source in Camp Becks said: "David has had a fantastic relationship with Pepsi…But after 10 years he feels there are other things he could do. He has an idea for creating a range of healthy products, including water. That's something PepsiCo might develop with him. David is keen to go down the healthy route to keep in with his sporty image. And Pepsi is desperate to keep him. So who knows…?"
Whether Beckham Springs will be mineral water or another Becks Eau de toilette much like the ill fated Dasani from Coke remains to be seen. All we can say is that Beat Towers is a paragon to green living and carbon offsetting and we won't be supping from David's bubbling brook and will continue to drink from the dripping tap in the kitchen.
David's Holy Water will be available from overpriced restaurants and food stores sometime soon, possibly.
