What can we say, our faith in the England cricket squad is truly restored and the South Africans have been been put in their place. Yeah, we let them get away with it for a while, our shambolic attempts may have given a false sense of security but it is over - for now at least!

Ok, we finally have it folks!

After labours worthy of Hercules we have, in our hands, the final results from the Irish Poker Classic.

You may recall it was Ireland’s premier poker event for August and its €150,000 guaranteed prize pool had attracted some big names.

You may also recall that it was to a ‘Deep Stack’ event, with 15,000 starting chips and slower level increases.

Well, we had expected the combination of moolah and thoughtful strategy to produce a longer game but we didn’t expect it to take nearly two week to get the results.

We can only wager there must have been a few smiling eyes that wanted to celebrate in the best possible fashion or that they decided …

Remember the days when everybody loved Tom Cruise? Okay it was long long before he started loving the aliens and life on Planet Zarg. But in recent times Tom is becoming a right pain in the backside.

His recently beleaguered film Valkyrie is in hot water yet again. It’s not been short on the controversy and the latest hitch is the German extras suing old God Squad himself. This comes close to the back of reports that the film has been pushed back to December because noone wants to see a story about Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg, who attempted to assassinate Hitler. Or basically Tom playing a Nazi with an eye patch.

Well we reckon that bit sounds okay, Philistines! Anyway …

Some shock transfer news hot off the Beat UK press - Dimitar Berbatov has been packed off to Coventry. We can´t believe it.

We all thought the moody Spurs striker was on his way to Manchester United but it would seem that his White Hart Lane team mates have become fed up with the Bulgarian´s bench-warming, refusal-to-play antics - so they´ve sent him to Coventry.

We love a bit of history at Beat UK and have actually discovered that the origin of the phrase comes from that nasty man Oliver Cromwell´s time.

In 1684 the evil tyrant sent some Royalist soldiers to be imprisoned in Coventry jail. The parliamentary supporting locals shunned them and refused to have anything to do with them.

As we approach the end of August, regular readers of Poker Unclogged may recall that we have used this month’s pieces to explore the topic of poker vacations as alternatives to the package holiday.
