Us motley crew at the Beat always thought there was something suspicious about the seemingly love / hate relationship between Jose Mourinho and Sir Alex Ferguson. The press would build up a war of words between the two and then we´d hear about the pair sharing bottles of vintage wine after games.

But now the truth is out. They were best muckers all along and thanks to Jose´s latest move; Fergie is in for the easiest title procession of his career.

By lining up Frank Lampard for Inter Milan, Mourinho is effectively pulling the carpet under any chance Chelsea had of winning the title. And let´s face it, Chelsea are United´s only realistic challengers.

Rafael Nadal winning Wimbledon didn’t really come as a shock to any of us and yesterday’s final was certainly one of the best in history (well according to office female it was anyway but we suspect her remarks are purely based upon her untold admiration of Nadal’s cut off vest and golden biceps!)

But seriously we know there are always winners and losers in sport, bringing us on to a very valid point. How do you keep cool and emotion free under the glare of the world’s media? What a pasting Lewis Hamilton’s been taking recently! The flak-o-meter has been going mad with some quarters even questioning his devotion to his sport in favour of the celebrity lifestyle. But Lewis ruffled feathers by passionately suggesting that this wasn’t the case and vowed to make up for past errors.

The Geordie nation is in turmoil this week following rumours that relatives of Osama Bin Laden are on the verge of buying Newcastle United.

The Bin Ladens, who own a massive Saudi Arabian construction company, are set to bid £300m for the Premier League club.

The Saudi Arabian Binladen Group (SBG) - a multinational building company whose boss Bakr Bin Laden is half-brother to one of the world’s most hunted men - are reported to be at the front of a queue of potential buyers.

The Bin Laden family is believed to have distanced themselves from the Al-Qaida terrorist Osama before he claimed responsibility for the events of September 11, 2001.
