England v New Zealand: Celebrate Our Sporting Heroes

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
England v All Blacks

The mind boggles when it comes to the types of injuries sportsmen have to endure for the love of their game. We’re not talking a bit of ankle sprain or man-flu. Just honest to goodness face grimacing injuries that wouldn’t go amiss in a Jet Li flick!

Aye there’s method in our madness and we’ll get there in the end! We refer of course to this weekend’s rugby action when England takes on the All Blacks in Auckland.

Mike Tindall is back on the squad to play in first test match since his Six Nations injury. He landed on the boot of Wales winger Mark Jones and get this, punctured his lung, was left with a hole in his liver and …

Angels And Fairways: Cabrera Hot For US Open

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
Angel Cabrera To Clean Up At US Open?

With dense six inch long rough framing the fairways and the fastest greens the players face all year it´s never a surprise to see level par win the season´s second Major – the US Open. Angel Cabrera´s 5 over was enough to see the Argentinian win at Oakmont in 2007.

Torrey Pines, outside San Diego, hosts this year´s renewal and there is no reason to believe that the scoring will be much lower. The venue, which plays host to early spring´s Buick Invitational, has been extended to a mammoth 7,643 yards - the longest in US Open history - which should help us narrow down our punting portfolio.

Purists will argue that straight hitters, who keep things nice and tidy like …

Enter Cheryl Cole: Simon Cowell The Dog With Two Dicks!

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
Dog With Two Dicks Simon Cowell

After what seems like a week long search it’s finally been revealed  that Cheryl Tweedy Cole is set to replace Sharon Osbourne as the new X-factor judge / mentor / panto dame. The move comes after the Queen of Darkness, and most self important person on TV, threw her rattle out of the pram and quit the show after failing to secure a gazzilion pound pay rise for doing whatever she was already being overpaid for.

Chezza will join ‘judges ‘;  leprechaun Louis Walsh, the self parody that is Simon Cowell and Dannii Minogue, the not very talented but nonetheless fit sister of Kylie. The geordie Girls Aloud hottie will bag a not to be sniffed at £800,000 in the process, …

Andrew Strauss Gets Political

Andrew Strauss Gets Political

Here at Bodog you could call us a bit of an old-fashioned bunch. We’re creatures of habit, we know what we want and we know where to get it. We like what we like and we know what we know…blah de blah. Not that we’re saying we can’t be unpredictable because we can, it’s just that if we want a footballer say, we want him to shut his gob and get on with the game instead of gassing on about fashion or some such subject.

Of course there are exceptions when the boundaries get a bit blurred and we have to make allowances for what we hear. Take sportsmen  turning their hand to something else, like opening restaurants or fashion lines. …

No More Pain For Spain?

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
The Spanish Get Excited

With a diet of past international footballing success the equivalent to a Ray Mears meal on the plains of the Gobi Desert the Spanish are suddenly starting to get very excited. Instead of centipedes and dried yeti poo, could it be time to fetch in the pata negra (posh cured ham) and crack open the cava?

Spain´s rampant 4-1 drubbing of Russia has seen the bookies bombing for cover.

Cor dear, doesn´t that result and performance say something dreadful about the state of English when the wally with the brolley was in charge. Fancy losing to that sorry Ruskie mob on a plastic pitch. Maybe it´s better England aren´t there, because they would have failed miserably anyway.

I´m not at all convinced things …

US Open: Tiger In Trouble!

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
Is Tiger Ready To Be Written Off?

It is called the US Open, but is it really? Open, we mean? Given Tiger Woods’ steely grip on golf in general and the Majors in particular, the PGA might be best advised to think about renaming this tournament. But this year, all those Tiger hunters have reason for renewed confidence; Woods is struggling.

The great one has clearly not been at his best this season – no other player in the world would consider finishing joint second in the US Masters a disaster, other than Woods, who did – and it’s mainly because of a knee problem. Tiger’s left knee is not in great shape and he’s barely played a full round since an operation. That was only a …
