Wino Wins Award!

Amy Wins Award

A rather embarrassed London cabbie was forced to get on stage and accept a prestigious Ivor Novello award in the absence of his wayward daughter Amy ‘where are you’ Winehouse.

Daddy dearest Mitch accepted her award for ‘Best Song Musically and Lyrically’ for ‘Love is a Losing Game’ he said: "She is getting better and she’d like to send her love to everyone at the Ivors who first recognised her talent."

The ever familiar and rather boring ‘will she, wont she turn up’ narrative was the theme to the lead up to the ceremony.  Although the junkie star did manage to dispel rumours that she’ll burst into flames when exposed to sunlight and arrived at the afternoon ceremony, albeit a rather …

Has Roman Abramovich Gone Soft On Football?

Has Roman Abramovich Gone Soft On Football?

We at Bodog Towers are an empathic lot, we don’t sit in our ivory tower and cast aspersions (not on a Friday - it’s too warm in the office and the post lunch after glow is kicking in. Aye our grey cells stay razor-sharp at all times but then you know that. But our prod, poke and Mickey take filter gets turned down every now and again.

This is one of those times as we sit and ponder the fate of Avram Grant after Chelsea’s painful near sniff of Brasso from that Champions League trophy before it got snatched away by grubby hands. What will Roman Abramovich do next? Where is Avram (who still hasn’t managed to live outside of cheeky …

Bodog's Tourney Tips Friday Is Here!!

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
Bodog's Tourney Tips Friday

It is time again for tournament tips and if you’ve been following these since week one, you should be ready for some strategic guidelines for the stage leading up to the final table.

OK, we have to start with a cold dose of reality – we can’t give you any hard and fast rules for how to negotiate the post-bubble phase of the tournament. The classic, frustrating, piece of poker advice that the greybeards gasp to the bum-fluffs is ‘It depends’.

Look at how often it works:

Should I call, raise or fold with AQ, first in, from mid position?

I’m on the button with 99 and a player has opened with an all-in bet which takes 1/3 of my stack – should I …

Rafael Nadal To Win A Fourth French Open?

Rafael Nadal To Win A Fourth French Open?

Sunday is the big day for tennis as the French Open kicks off at the Stade De Roland Garros. Of course we Brits will be rooting for Scottish tantrum aficionado Andy Murray, and since other British hopefuls like Katie O’Brien and Alex Bogdanovich crashed in and out of the qualifiers.

Let’s face it we all know that Murray loses his rag more often than not, despite giving more apologies than a wife-beater. Everyone knows that if God made man from mud then that man was Rafael Nadal, the God of Clay who has wiped the floor (pardon the pun) with everyone else for the last three French Open tournaments.

He certainly gets Murray’s vote:

"He’s the only player I’ve seen on the …

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
Michael Owen Bunking off England Friendlies

We had to raise an eyebrow or two when we heard that Kevin Keegan had a new venture up his sleeve. It’s anybody’s guess as to what it could be - and with the way Kevin has been going with his shambolic managerial displays At Newcastle United - we wonder if it could be a departure from football! So imagine our fallen jaws when we heard that he is opening the world’s first fully interactive football attraction at Center Parcs.

It has been touted as the place for visitors will to engage in exciting, immersive football challenges. Now this is where it goes downhill with a vengeance, but if we’re honest we had a bit of a giggle at the name …

For God Sake Don’t Tell Ricky!!

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
Say Cheese!

Yes this weekend is going to be jam-packed with the big sporting events. There’s Ricky Hatton and Juan Lazcano at it in Manchester, the beautiful people will be hot-footing from Cannes Film Festival to Monaco for posturing and rubber-burning at the Monaco Grand Prix, not to mention the Heineken Cup Final , The Championship Final Play-offs and The French Open Tennis starting. But before you wet your pants, take a deep yet whiffy breath because we have saved the best for last.

For it is time to give those moth-eaten leather-elbow patched tweed jackets their annual airing at the Cheese Rolling Festival in Gloucester? Actually it’s not posh at all and attire has nothing to do with enjoying chasing a huge …

John Terry Spitting?

John Terry Spitting?

John "Slippers" Terry could quickly see the wave of sympathy that is currently behind him evaporate if allegations of him "spitting" at Carlos Tevez are proved correct.Have another look at the footage as the England skipper confronts the Argentinean in the melee that eventually saw Didier Drogba sent off near the end of extra time.

Terry is seen blowing his nose on his sleeve right just inches away from Tevez who then walks off rubbing his neck… from hero to zero, surely not JT?

Meanwhile, back the Bridge beleaguered boss Avram Grant looks set for the guillotine - despite being less than the width of a post away from winning the biggest trophy in Chelsea´s history.

Think about that Mr Abramovich, and …
