Bodog's Tourney Tips Friday

Welcome back to the tournament tips column. This is part 4 of a 6 part series that will guide you through most of the dilemmas you will face playing a high stakes multi-table tournament.

Last week saw us through the bubble. It is always worth giving yourself a pat on the back if you have passed that stage as you have achieved your first goal: to make it into the money.

Ok, now for some bad news: it is almost impossible to offer hard and fast rules from this point until the final table. By now, the Yahoos will mostly be fired out and the field will be full of decent players. There will be occasions when there is a bad player …

First Net Buster In Moscow?

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
First Net Buster In Moscow?

The Bodog Sports has published some blinding markets on the upcoming Champions League final between Manchester United and Chelsea but among the most intriguing is the one titled "First Goal Method".

With aerial threats from the likes of six-footers Cristiano Ronaldo, Didier Drogba, John Terry, Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic the 4/1 quote for "header" could well be worth an interest. And let´s not forget that Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs have weighed in with plenty of scoring headers in the past despite their Lilliputian statures.

It´s a great shame there isn´t an "in off the jacksie" category because I´d want my mortgage on Frank Lampard who has the advantage of having twice as much surface area to get on the …

Paris vs Posh – Let Retail Battle Commence

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
Paris Versus Posh

Yesterday saw two of the world’s biggest media whores / non entities go head to head in London town to fight it out for their own little slice of retail heaven. In the red corner Mrs David Beckham launched her overpriced jeans at Russia’s favourite department store and in the blue corner Paris Hilton launched her new perfume ‘Can Can’ at Selfridges.  “I can can earn my own money and don’t need that multi-billion Hilton inheritance”, she might have said.

We have discovered the secret.

We now know what it is.

We understand the power of the Terminator Chip and there will be another tournament harnessing the force of this awesome chunk of plastic next week at the Olympic Casino Lietuva, Lithuania.

The tournament forms part of the Olympic Open Championship 2008 which is currently rampaging through the Baltics. This weekend will see it tear through the Voodoo Casino in Riga, Latvia, and interested parties can buy in for €1000 to play the venue’s main event at 6pm today. However, it is time to divulge the secret of the terminator chip.

In ‘Terminator Tournaments’, a certain part of the buy-in, usually 10-20%, is allocated to the value of the chip …

FA Cup Final: Portsmouth v Cardiff City

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
FA Cup Final 2008

So far it´s been a decent 2008 for the Welsh.

Shane Williams and Co winning the Six Nations, Joe Calzaghe getting up off the canvas to beat Bernard Hopkins and Tom Jones shaving off that ridiculous goatee beard (my Mum reckons they look like fannies).

But if Cardiff City beat Portsmouth on Saturday at Wembley it will eclipse them all. A bunch of lower league Taffs winning the FA Cup? Even Dylan Thomas with a bottle of gin on board could not make it up.

By jove it´s enough to have every Three Lions supporting, shaven headed, bulldog tattooed, Sun-reading, St George flag-waving patriot foaming at the chops with fury. But get this. One of the great ironies is that Cardiff …
