Harbhajan Singh Gets 11-match Ban For Slapping!

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
Harbhajan Singh Slapping

Remember when Australia’s Matthew Hayden called Harbhajan Singh an "obnoxious little weed?" Well it looks like he could have been right all along. Oh yes there was lots of name-calling perfect for the school yard. Singh even called Australia’s Andrew Symonds a monkey during the second Test in Sydney in January. He was cleared of racial abuse, but his added misbehaviour and tantrum-throwing has come back to haunt him.

The 27 year-old spinner has been given a 11-match ban by the Indian Premier League after slapping fellow India player Sree Santh (and making him cry!) in last friday’s game against Kings XI Punjab. This could be curtains for Singh unless his team the Mumbai Indians get to the semis. A remorseful …

The World Snooker Championships 2008: O'Sullivan Into Last 8

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
Ronnie O'Sullivan Through To Final 8

Rocket Ronnie’s a funny one, he’s got the charisma and personality of a bygone era, characteristically un-PC as certain female hacks will testify. He’s the mean and moody man of snooker - a real man, snooker’s Heathcliffe. With Ronnie O’Sulllivan life must seldom be slow or boring. And office female isn’t the only one swooning over the man she calls the Master Pocket Billiards Maestro (She wishes we reckon).

The World Snooker Championships may be on at the Crucible in Sheffield with many big names, but secretly the name on most lips is Ronnie’s. But the fire in the attic comes from his 10-5 win against Liu Chuang last week, things didn’t start off too smoothly and he even had a …

Miley Cyrus Vanity Fair Nude Photoshoot Shocker!

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
Miley Cyrus Nude Photoshoot

Last week we brought you the glorious Megan Fox, this week we bring you the teen star of Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana, none other than Miley Cyrus, daughter of ex-mullet lovin’ country singer Billy Ray Cyrus. (Who we must admit in this pic from cushort at Flickr.com, looks a tad like Nicole Kidman’s Keith Urban but we digress.)

Miley is a child star and precocious teen and like all precocious teens has decided to offend. Her brand of anarchy comes from a nude photoshoot no less. Just because it was for Vanity Fair avec renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz, but that doesn’t make it OK. We at Bodog Beat UK are a discerning lot and fifteen year old girls in the nude …

David Chiu WPT Winner

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
Final Day EPT Bellagio

David Chiu, described by card player Mike Sexton as ‘a pro’s-pro, won the WPT Championship at the Bellagio on Saturday, netting $3,389,140. The ex-restaurant owner is proud to add the title to his 4 WSOP bracelets.

For a while, it seemed like it might be the fastest final table in WPT history as Gus Hansen’s wrecking ball had demolished the stacks of 4 other players. The great Dane’s trademark loose style had seen him play 16 of the first 19 hands. He prides himself on his ability to play any two cards but he was also helped, initially, by quite a large chunk of luck.

He was the underdog with T-9 suit in a contest against the AQ of Jeff King – …

Chelsea Running The Title Race

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
Avram Grant

So, Chelsea have blown the title race wide open again. Well, kind of. For once, I think Sir Alex got it wrong. Very wrong. Like, ‘shoot yourself in the foot and slap yourself on the forehead’ wrong. With no Evra, Hargreaves, Scholes, Ronaldo or Tevez starting the game, it was always going to be tricky for them.

And once Vidic was carried off looking like a stunned rabbit, victory already looked unlikely. Still, the highlight of the game for me was the ridiculous altercation between Michael Ballack and Didier Drogba. Essien’s decision to hide his head under his shirt said it all. Ballack and Drogba are both great players, but along with Ashley Cole, they’re fast becoming Chelsea’s t**t trio.

I …

Has Fergie Gone Mad?

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
Alex Ferguson

Man United’s players were so busy looking over the shoulders at Chelsea, they took their eye off the emerging threat coming up fast on their blind spot – Alex Ferguson’s team selections and tactics. For some reason, Ferguson has taken to tinkering with a tried and tested formula in recent weeks, re-shuffling his team and wedging players into unfamiliar positions. It’s come back to bite him on the bum, big time.

Saturday was just weird. United’s biggest club game of the season, a game that if they avoided defeat more or less confirmed the title was theirs, and Ronaldo was left on the bench. Amazing; United’s best player left out. Now, the poor darling is bound to need a rest soon, …

Pitch Battles At The Bridge

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
Alex Ferguson

Never has a post match warm down become so heated.

Manchester United´s Patrice Evra, Gary Neville, Ji Sung Park and Paul Scholes were going through a routine warm down after their side´s 2-1 defeat when all hell broke loose after a Stamford Bridge official asked them to move on.

A Beat spy reports that one of the United players gave the Chelsea groundsman extremely short shrift when he asked the players to finish their wind down on another part of the pitch as he wanted to cut the grass.

So who is to blame? Were these the actions of a jumped up jobsworth or another prima donna Premiership player acting above the law?

Our guess is that it was the latter. Word is that …
