Friday Is Bodog's Winning Tourney Tips Day

As promised yesterday, here is the first of our new weekly series that will offer the poker equivalent of a sat-nav and guide you through the heavily populated jungle that is an online multi-table tournament.

Follow these tips and you should stand a better chance of lasting through Bodog’s Guaranteed $100K on Sunday afternoons. Equally, feel free to ignore them. However, if you do, it is far more likely you will be dumped out early and forced to open the TV guide.

Maybe you prefer documentaries about shepherds, reality programmes featuring poor people on a week-long tattoo swap, or one of those weepies where interchangeable Harrys struggle to commit to reliable Dorises before the pet poodle snuffs it at the watershed moment: …

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
Gus Hansen

Although he is entitled to another year’s supply of almonds for being a sponsor’s Player of the Day, Gus Hansen is likely to be focused on the main reward on in the WPT event at Bellagio. After the 5th day, there are only six players left from the original 545 and Gus has a near 2m chip advantage over his closest rival, Cory Carroll.

As his physique suggests, Gus is not a man to succumb to the distraction of snacking. He has been known to make bets with individuals based on personal fitness goals and was a tennis champion in his youth.  An obviously very self-motivated man, he has stated he learnt English from the liner notes on Pink Floyd albums …

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
Avram Grant

It´s the saloon of last chances for Avram Grant´s men as they look to take three points off Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Victory for the Red Devils will all but give Sir Alex Ferguson an incredible 10th Premier League title and the bad news for supporters of opposing clubs is that the old dog appears to have plenty of life left in him yet.

If Fergie is to bag the goodies this weekend he will need to overturn Chelsea´s brilliant 80 match unbeaten home run - that sequence started before the iPod hit the shelves and Cristiano Ronaldo began to shave.

With the bookmakers running scared of a United victory it has to be …

Is Teen Genius Alia Sabur The New Einstein?

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
Albert Einstein

We’re all for a nice bit of schooling and advanced learning here at Bodog Beat but what about those sordid tales of ultra ambitious parents pushing their kids into beauty pageants, orienteering or worse still creating the next child prodigy? Tefal heads, Albert Einstein, braniacs, Stephen Hawking is what springs to our minds - but in our old- fashioned state we think kids should be kids not genii - so long as they’re not happy-slapping or mugging we don’t mind!

But some folks just take this business far too seriously, not us we don’t see a problem with being dumber than a box of rocks / rock stars (delete as appropriate, yeah we’re going to get complaints - but we …

Frank Lampard To Miss Man Utd Game

Chelsea are due to take on Manchester United at the weekend but there will be one face missing form the Chelsea line-up. Frank Lampard won’t be on the pitch since his mum Pat has passed away from pneumonia. Lamps was the doting son and spent much of his time by her bedside after she was admitted to Whipps Cross Hospital in London on April 14. Frank’s agent said:

Wesley Snipes Sentenced To 3 Years In Prison

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
Wesley Snipes Gets 3 Years Prison For Tax Evasion

He may play a tough vampire slaying hero Blade, but he’s gone from hero straight to zero with his dodged tax bill. We heard this story a while back but the big man Wesley Snipes has been sentenced to three years in prison for failing to file his tax return during 1999- 2001.

We’ve seen it all before though, remember good old Ken Dodd and a whole host of other great stars from the annals of British entertainment? They liked to do things the old-fashioned way like sticking tenners in flower pots or under the mattress all to avoid the tax man getting his paws on that hard earned lolly.

Maybe our Wes had the same idea, he’s been shot at …
