Will Lewis Bottle It At The Spanish Grand Prix 2008?

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
Lewis Hamilton

We’ll see how sensitive a lad Lewis Hamilton is ahead of this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona. He was taunted with racist abuse by fans whose allegiances lay with Fernando Alonso. But at Bodog Beat we’re not that interested in spats - well we are normally but not this time! We’re more interested in knowing how the hell he’s going to come back from that abysmal performance at the Bahrain Grand Prix!!

He finished 13th and his performance was riddled with errors - what with crashing in practice, stalling on the grid and bum-shunting Alonso (we reckon that felt good if nothing else!) Ultimately Kimi Raikkonen reaped the rewards. But our boy Lew reckons there’s nothing to worry about:

"Looking into …

Monte Carlo Masters: Andy Murray Faces Novak Djokovic

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
Andy Murray Faces Djokovich

Remember what we were saying about Andy Murray shoving a trophy in our faces before we’d believe he’s a winner? Well we might have to get ready to turn the other cheek, because the Murray Mint just went and won his second round clash against Filippo Volandri 6-4, 6-1. Not hard seeing he’s ranked 42 in the world rankings but you can never tell with Andy Murray, losing his cool and all that - it has been known to happen. But having said that, like Murray the Italian beat Roger Federer on a clay court in Rome last year. Here’s what Murray had to say:

"The key was to be patient. I had to adapt my game a little bit and …

World Poker Tour Day 3

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
Gus Hansen

Another day, another million dollar tournament. Regular readers may recall that yesterday’s post referred to the poker room at The Bellagio as ‘The Office’ and, like any workplace, it has plenty of tales of misery.

Picture the scenario: you’ve had a long day, it’s ten minutes until clocking off time and you’re thinking about home. In any other office, there are not too many things that could wrong. However, if you are playing in the WPT, those ten minutes could change your life, in a way only matched by your boss asking you ‘to step inside and close the door’.

Yesterday, Gus Hansen was minutes away from the exit after a hard day’s work. His chip stack was average and he spent …

Amy Winehouse Book Deal

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
Amy Winehouse

It’s been a bit of a week for Amy Winehouse, she’s been nominated for three Ivor Novello songwriting awards despite not having done anything for a while.

‘Love is a Losing Game’ and ‘You Know I’m No Good’ have both been nominated in ‘best song of this year’ category. ‘Rehab,’ which won an Ivor last year for ‘best contemporary song’ is now nominated for best-selling British song.

So, she may be winning songwriting plaudits but there’s also been talks of penning a biography (well not penning they’ll probably get a ghost writer in for that we shouldn’t wonder). Wino and jailbird hubby Blake Fielder-Civil have been offered a cool million to spill the beans about their marriage.

The Sun reports …

Coleen McLoughlin's Asda Price-less

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
Asda Drops Coleen McLoughlin

It’s reassuring to know that while third-world children have worked their fingers to the bone to produce cheap-as-chips clothing for British bargain hunters, there is one Scouse chav that will never be short of a bob or two.

After pocketing a cool £3 million as the face of George – ASDA’s clothing line – Coleen McLoughlin has finally been ditched by the supermarket giants. The store’s supremos have clearly decided that promoting the range using a dumpy girl who never even enters their shop is maybe the wrong way to go about things, and who can blame them.

A girl who spent her young life thinking that tracksuits were the height of fashion and since her fiancee and Mr Potato Head look-alike, …

Chelsea Edge Nearer To Moscow

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
Petr Cech

Disaster for Rafa, destiny for Avram. Rarely will you see a better example of football being an inexact science. Liverpool were good value for a 1-0 win over Chelsea at Anfield on Tuesday evening and in fairness should really have won the game 2-0 on balance of play and chances created.

But a last gasp own goal by John Arne Riise - in the fifth minute of extra time - has now turned the entire tie on its head.

The fact that the Londoners are now favourites to make the Moscow final is mainly down to their incredible keeper Petr Cech.

If Cech isn´t the best keeper anywhere of the past 20 years – then Mao Tse Tung wasn´t a China man.

An awesome …
