Confessions At An Awards Ceremony

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,

Madonna hasn’t always been the queen of pop, and started her career as the queen of popping pills. She celebrated her first step onto the ladder of success by dropping an E. She said:

"The night I met Michael Rosenblatt, who signed me to Sire Records (in 1963), I jammed my demo tape into his hand, we both did a tab of ecstasy and then we danced the night away."

The confessions star was inducted into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Monday night. Justin ‘trouser-snake’ Timberlake presented the Erotica star with the award and a bare chested 108 year old Iggy Pop paid tribute by singing her hits Ray of Light and Burning Up.

Justin couldn’t help using …

Robbie Williams Star Man

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
rob

There’s a Starman, living in LA. He’d like to come and meet us, but he thinks he’d blow our minds….

We’ve suspected for a while that Robbie Williams is a planet short of a solar system but our suspicions have now been confirmed by news from crackpot central, LA, now home to the UK fearing Robster.

It appears that Robbie has quaffed one Starbucks Venti Hazelnut Skinny Latte’s with an extra shot too many and has finally joined Britney on another planet. Mr Rock DJ admitted to being obsessed with UFOs and spends his time hunting down the elusive little green men. He said; “I’m stopping being a pop star. I’m going to be a full time Ufologist”

Stopping? We thought you had …

Wacko's Location, Location, Location

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
wacko

News has reached Bodog HQ that the Wacko Jacko family are house-hunting in Devon. We can only hope that they have been in touch with Phil and Kirsty and the hunt will soon be televised on Channel 4.

With Neverland on the market and jesus juice swigging Michael now living in self-imposed exile in the middle east the hunt is on for a nice little place in the country.

So picture the scene, Kirsty and Phil sat down with Janet, Michael , Tito et al asking what it is they are looking for in their dream Barnstaple, yes Barnstaple home. Period features, check. Nice country views, check. Secluded spot, check. Room for an oxygen tent, menagerie of animals, fairground rides, er, “You might have to compromise …

You Can't Beat A Bit of Jam

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
rafa

Napoleon Bonaparte always maintained he favoured lucky generals over good ones and after Uefa penalty shoot out woe for Everton and Spurs it´s easy to see why. Both English sides (well some of their players are English) were deserving of a place in the quarter finals but without that elusive rub of the green it just wasn´t to be.

And I fear Everton´s European pain won´t end there. That´s because Napoleon look-a-like Rafael Benitez has a dastardly plan up his sleeve.

The Liverpool boss is jammier than a donut factory when it comes to Europe and is going to lead his side to Champions League glory for the second time during his tenure. In doing so the Reds are going …

Frank's Contract Plea

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
frank

What a masterstroke from Frank Lampard. His timing has been impeccable. While his contract situation drags on (and on and on and on, depending on how interested you are in the whole saga zzzzzz…..) his performance on Wednesday night did more for his cause than a dozen newspaper interviews could ever do.

Frank spanked four goals as Chelsea punished poor old Derby. Perhaps the worst team the Premier League has ever seen, it doesn’t take much to give the Rams a sound thrashing but even so – four goals from one player is some achievement. Especially from a midfielder; Lampard’s quadruple blast made him the first ever midfield player to score four times in a Premier League match.

Amazingly, Lampard’s future is …

Bodog's World Hurdle Tips For Cheltenham Festival 2009

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
czech

If stormy weather hadn’t been responsible for packing in the racing action for what should have been Day 2 of the Cheltenham Festival, we wouldn’t have had our bumper racing crop today. Lucky us because we want to be right in the thick of things and the high quality race that was the Ladbrokes World Hurdle promised just that. It delivered the last three winners and the field had an astonishing total of nine festival wins between them.

Inglis Drever ridden by Denis O’Regan was going for hat trick of World Hurdle wins, having won last year when Paddy Brennan rode him for a really close win over Mighty Man, and also in 2005 when he beat another two-time winner, Baracouda. …

EPT Polish Open: Day 1b

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
chips

Day 1b of the EPT Warsaw proved not to be noble in the minds of 229 players as they suffered the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune and crashed out of the tournament. Only 130 players of 359 entrants are left to contest Day 2, due to begin at 1pm GMT at the Hyatt Regency Casino.

An impressive turnout has generated a prize pool of 7,180,000 Polish Zloty. For those readers who are currently suffering a brain fart or who are not whizz-kids at exchange rates, Bodog is happy to state that the cash translates to approximately €2m, with a first prize of €600,000.

One player clearly not currently enduring any mental fog is Sweden’s Robert Flink as he is topping the …

Bodog's Queen Mother Champion Chase Tips For 2009

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
HORSE

Today’s Cheltenham Festival race card was indeed fuller than a butcher’s pup, due to yesterday’s cancellations. But full steam ahead and we’re not just talking about the sweat we got ourselves into at Bodog HQ. The Seasons Holidays Queen Mother Champion Chase is what we got ourselves all lathered up over.

As if we needed to remind you, the betting was all about the top four: Master Minded, Twist Magic, Voy Por Ustedes and Tamarinbleu - admit it, none of us really thought any other horse had a chance!

Voy Por Ustedes won last year, although hasn’t exactly been having a great season so far and the Alan King trained horse showed us that he really loves Cheltenham, running well again, …

F1 Australian GP: Alonso v Hamilton

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
alonso

Not since the magnificent Ayrton Senna stormed into the Benetton pits and grabbed Michael Schumacher by the throat have we looked forward to an F1 season with quite so much relish.

The simmering feud between Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton has been given full licence to develop into a right old dust up now the two young guns are racing for separate teams.

Team protocol dictated that despite hating each other things never got out of hand while under the one McLaren roof but just watch it all kick off now. It´s a shame Alonso´s new team - Renault – aren´t good enough to consistently challenge Hamilton´s mob throughout the season.

But that shouldn´t prevent the Spaniard from throwing the …

The Cheltenham Festival: Day 3 Line-up

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
horse

Thursday at the Cheltenham Festival now sees a whopping 10 races after the postponement of Wednesday’s card due to high winds.

Voy Por Ustedes (Spanish for "I go for you" - and what matadors mutter when they are about to drive the sword through the bull´s shoulder blades) is back to defend his Queen Mother Champion Chase title. But the Alan King-trained horse faces a huge challenge in the form of Twist Magic and Master Minded - both trained by Paul Nicholls.

The Howard Johnson-trained Inglis Drever has a cracking chance of repeating his success in the Ladbrokes World Hurdle but he´s priced accordingly and better value may be found in following Blazing Bailey ridden by Ruby Walsh.

The JP McManus-owned Don’t Push …
