Sarah's Special Hand Signals

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,

There have been great philanthropists throughout history, people who gave their lives for the good of others. Mother Teresa, Florence Nightingale, Dame Vera Lynn. All worked tirelessly to ease to suffering of their fellow man, but even their efforts pale into insignificance in comparison to the bountiful Bodog Girl, Sarah.

She is definitely our hardest working, girl ( phew we had to be careful with our punctuation there, just in case!) She’s very fussy about her reputation is our Sarah, but fear not as there is nothing but praise to be lavished on you, oh flaxen-haired vixen.

But we beseech thee not to judge our girl by her very gorgeous (and totally fit) exterior, she has hidden depths (as we mentioned …

Ricky Hatton v Juan Lazcano Scheduled For May 24

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
HATTON

Since Ricky Hatton was spectacularly floored by Floyd Mayweather in December last year, the hottest news has been whether ‘The Hitman’ could make a comeback. The defeat was hard to take for people’s champion Ricky, he even cried into his pint and probably added a few more chip butties to his diet. (Being the well known comfort eater that he is!)

So the rumour mill was set into action and a date for the comeback was announced for May 24 in Manchester at the City of Manchester Stadium. (Ricky wanted to repay the support of the many fans who travelled to see him fight in Vegas, by fighting in his home town - well it works for Amir Khan!) Despite …

RBS Six Nations: All Hail Wales!

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
marc

Well, who’d have thought it? A mere six months since a flippin’ awful Rugby World Cup – when they were bundled out by Fiji – Wales have rebuilt, regrouped and returned stronger than before. They will almost certainly win the Six Nations championship on Saturday and, if they beat France (and who would bet against them, in their current form?) they’ll scoop the Grand Slam. That’s for beating everyone else in the tournament, and it doesn’t happen very often. No wonder it’s so coveted.

They’ll do it, I think. Why? Because this team has been up against it more than once recently and come flying through the other side. At Twickenham, they were getting royally stuffed by England at half-time …

EPT Polish Open: Day 1a

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
hands

So, at the EPT Polish Open we wave a fond farewell to Day 1a and look forward to Day 1b. (It’s an interesting philosophical conundrum: remember those posters from the sixties that stated ‘Today is the first day of the rest of your life’ – well, what if today is Day 1a of the rest of your life? Get your spaced out brains around that one, hep-cats)

One player who could probably solve metaphysics is Polish rock star Michel Wisniewski. With a dyed red bob, pale skin and dark sunglasses, he appears to be the offspring of Oscar winning actress Tilda Swinton and Chia Chia, the giant panda.  A colourful character, with an appreciation of the finer points of both poker …

The Cheltenham Festival: Storms See Day 2 Cancelled

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
czech

Ah Brits, what are we like huh? We’re always complaining about the weather, too hot, too cold, too windy. What about losing potential earnings though? Some could see the cancelled second day of the Cheltenham Festival that way. As you know Britain has been battered by rain and wind for the last couple of days and things got so out of hand that Day Two has been scrapped.

As if it’s not bad enough that little old biddies are hanging on to their trolleys and plastic head scarves for dear life, (and no, we don’t mean HM Queenie either) we refer simply to the poor horses fighting the laws of physics, never mind the punters whose temporary marquees are causing the …

Cheltenham Festival: Major Race Reviews

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
horse

What an opening day that was at the Festival! The sight of the Alan King-trained Katchit with Robert Thornton fighting up the hill to land the day´s feature race - the Smurfit Kappa Champion Hurdle - will linger long in the memory. A very nice 10/1 winner indeed. The favourite Sizing Europe finished well down the field.

In the opening Supreme Novices’ Hurdle - Captain Cee Bee - gave Thornton a magic start to the Festival with victory over another JP McManus owned horse, Binocular. Thornton was last year’s Cheltenham Festival leading jockey and will be right in the mix in 2008.

Tidal Bay claimed the Arkle Challenge Trophy Chase in fine style. Trainer Howard Johnson will be chuffed to bits with …
