Roll Up, Roll Up Get Yer Lovely Reds 'Ere!

Now we’re intrigued. DIC (Dubai International Capital) and Liverpool have been dilly-dallying for the last week now. First American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillet were fighting amongst each other as to whether they actually wanted to sell a hefty portion of the club to the Dubayans. After what we can imagine as Big Tom sitting on Gillet to make him sell part of his share and ‘open up to offers.’

Hicks must have been throwing his weight around so much that he gave DIC the hump and they threw their toys our of the pram saying his financial package was unrealistic. But we know that Sheikh Maktoum et al can spare a few bob. So although we love to …

Champions League Last 16: Inter v Liverpool

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
torres

What´s the betting the current Liverpool ownership negotiations between the Yanks and the Arabs drag on long after the club´s crunch last 16 tie against Inter Milan?

Dubai International Capital  - who it seemed only ever conducted their business in the most discreet manner - now appear to be using as much media  pressure as possible to get American co-owner Tom Hicks round the table. It seems to be working to some extent. The fans are in a state of apoplexy and calling for the Americans to ride out of town for good.

The Arabs understand fully well that if Rafa Benitez´s side get past the Italians they could see the American´s valuation rise even further. Expect the big Texan turn …

Hamilton And Raikonnen Square Up For Aussie GP

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
lewis

With the Australian Grand Prix kicking off this coming weekend, all eyes are on Lewis Hamilton. He was the rookie last season and this time round the pressure is on for him to pull it out of the bag. He has the backing of Formula One legend Alain Prost who reckons that McLaren driver Hamilton, can go all the way.

23 year-old Lewis who lost out to Kimi Raikonnen last season by one point says that he isn’t feeling the pressure to perform. He said: "Perhaps there is more pressure but I feel there is less. Last year I had so much to prove. There was the press asking ‘can he do it or not?’ I’m sure even people in the …

Is Wino Possessed?

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
amy

Will Amy Winehouse suddenly start twisting her head round in all directions and projectile vomiting the green stuff? Will she stick crucifixes where the sun doesn’t shine?

Well you never know because Rev Bob Larson says she’s probably possessed (with something a bit stronger than drugs and booze) and needs an exorcism. The Rev who preaches at the Spiritual Freedom Church in Denver, is the world’s leading exorcist and seeing as he’s making a trip to Britain he wants to call on our Amy.

He told the Daily Star Newspaper: "Amy Winehouse is in my opinion possessed. She is obviously suffering from drug addictions and other problems but the likelihood is, that is not all. People are more susceptible to being …

FA Cup Draw Latest

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
footy

In all honesty, the draw for the FA Cup semi-finals is unlikely to have people haemorrhaging with excitement. So yeah, Barnsley beat Chelsea and Cardiff beat Middlesbrough: giant-killing, hooray for the plucky underdog etc, but frankly I’m bored already.

For neutrals, the FA Cup might as well be over now. Short of Portsmouth losing 10-0 to Barnsley in the final, it’s going to be hideously disappointing. And even then you’d probably still want to see at least 10 streakers, some stunningly beautiful pyrotechnics, and possibly some sort of altercation between the referee and David James, (who, in your head would probably have been nobbing the ref’s wife.) But don’t hold your breath.

So yes, none of the top four teams deserve to …

Gazza Saved By Wii

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
gazza

Paul Gascoigne is out of the hospital after his recent dug and booze induced mental breakdown. Things seem to be looking okay at the moment and the troubled former footy legend has said that he owes his recovery to his son Regan.

The ten year-old played computer games with his dad over the internet whilst he spent three weeks inside the secure Middleton St. George Hospital in Durham.

Before being sectioned after a two-month drug and drink binge, Gazza spent weeks locked up in a Newcastle hotel room playing on his Nintendo Wii. He told the Sun Newspaper: "It’s good fun. I’ve been playing Regan at ten-pin bowling on the Wii games. He challenged me."

Last night Gazza was relaxing at …

Oh S**t Posh 'n' Becks Are Coming Back!

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,

We are up in arms here at Bodog Towers! We are so distracted that we have even taken chewing our fingernails and pulling out our hair! What you may ask is the reason for this sudden anxiety?

We have heard the terrible news. News that would even scare a hardened crim into a life of spiritual solitude and charitable pursuits. Posh and Becks are coming baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaccccccccck!!!! We thought we had got rid of Britain’s best export since the Bubonic Plague. No worse than that, dumb and dumber haven’t been able to make an impact upon the US of A and are thinking of buying a London pad - for keeps.

They thought they would try and conquer the Hollywood celebrity scene …

Welsh Wizards In Spellbinding Form?

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
joe

Wales top of the Six Nations, Cardiff City into the FA Cup semi finals, Joe Calzaghe world champion…

They are riding the crest of a sporting wave in the Valleys right now and it doesn´t look like stopping any time soon.

Warren Gatland´s rugger boys will thrash France this weekend, Cardiff´s footballers are pitched into the weakest last four of the FA Cup since woolly mammoths roamed Gwent and the biggest danger to Calzaghe´s world title tilt against Bernard Hopkins is whether the ageing American can make it into the ring without his zimmer frame. It´s definitely the year of the dragon.

Is there anything Welsh running at Cheltenham? I´m a firm believer that these national successes run in cycles. So if I …

Avram On The Line

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
avram

I don’t think I’d like to be Avram Grant right now. He’s had the anti-semitic death threats from disgruntled fans no doubt. But the head honcho Roman Abramovich is getting tetchy now too. He was thought to be left scratching his head over the marked absences of Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard from the starting lineup against Barnsley at the weekend. It has to be said that the shambles against giant-killers Barnsley was nothing short of embarrassing for Chelsea. And Kayode Odejayi’s header in the second half has really sealed Chelsea and Grant’s fate.

When asked if his job was on the line, there was only one response from Avram: "I will accept it. When I’m responsible for the team, …
