Giggsy and Fergie Sitting In A Tree…

Well done Giggsy you’re in Fergies’ good books! (AP Images)

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been laying the praise on thick. (No we know it’s totally out of character!) But it’s not everyday that we reach 100! Welsh winger Ryan Giggs makes his 100th European appearance for the club in the Champions League clash against Lyon tonight. Fergie said:

"Only a few players have reached that milestone. Ryan has produced many great moments for us. It’s a great occasion for him and we’re all proud of him." Giggs wasn’t part of last weekend’s 4-0 FA Cup thrashing of Arsenal.

But Lyon won’t be that easy to beat since as they have won six French league titles on the trot, and not …

Brits Flying Flag At The Oscars

There Will be Blood at Bodog if Daniel Day-Lewis doesn’t get the Best Actor Oscar on Sunday. (AP Images)

As the Oscar race hots up we take a quick shufty at who we reckon deserves what. Of course there will be bias and we wouldn’t expect anything short of a British Invasion. Julie Christie, Tilda Swinton, Daniel Day-Lewis and Tom Wilkinson going to do us proud. What more can we say except “we’d love to be flies on the wall.”

But we will say that the 80th Academy Awards on Sunday is the most unpredictable to date with so many news genres rife for the picking.

Here’s what we’re interested in:

Best Actor

Daniel Day-Lewis - There Will be Blood

(Viggo Mortensen - blame office female …

Wash That Man Right Out Of Yer Hair!

Will Amy Winehouse keep her s*** together for tonight’s Brits? (AP Images)

What’s Amy Winehouse’s jailbird hubby Blake Fielder-Civil done now we wonder? Well apart from selling autographed pictures of his missus in the pokey - for a piece of brown. As a result of the shock the Camden Crooner missed her Brit awards rehearsal when she found out how much she was going for. Nay we jest, she was very distraught because she thought that he was trading for fags. (And not the drop the soap kind neither!)

The Sun reckons: "Amy was supposed to rehearse on Monday, but didn’t show up after she discovered Blake had been trading pictures of her for drugs. It’s a real shame she wasn’t there …

Aiden and Abetting Celtic

Gordon Strachan’s bright young thing, Aiden McGeady. (AP Images)

When a journalist once asked Gordon Strachan for a quick word in a post match interview the Celtic manager snapped back “velocity” and smartly went on his way. He´s always been a quick witted wee fella and his choice of word just happens to be a pretty good description of one of Celtic´s best players.

If the Bhoys are going to progress over two legs against Barcelona then you need to bet your bottom shilling that quicksilver winger Aiden McGeady will be one of the main reasons.

The young Irishman is absolute mustard and at 21 is being touted as one of the brightest talents in the game.

Cruz’s Break For Freedom

Is Cruz Beckham just trying to make a break for it before Posh turns into a stage mum? (AP Images)

We all heard about Cruz Beckham busting his moves with his mum and the rest of the Spice Girls on stage at the Madison Square Gardens concert in New York. Although we are sure that there must be some kind of health and safety rule about having wayward brats on a stage with wayward parents!

Tell us something that we don’t know though, the youngest Beckham can move better than his mum and the rest of the motley crew - that bunch of old has-beens and never-will-be-agains.

According to mouthy ginge Geri the last gig of the tour scheduled for February 26 …

RBS Six Nations: Enter Richard Wigglesworth!

Brian Ashton means business with Richard Wigglesworth. (AP Images)

Is there a player with a better name in the whole of rugby union, anywhere in the entire world? I doubt it. I doubt it very much. Richard Wigglesworth sounds like some kind of fictional fighter plane war hero, all handlebar moustache and ‘chocks away’ and all that. But he’s not, of course. He’s the latest newcomer brought into the England team by a coach who, step by step, is gradually demolishing the side that reached the World Cup final and rebuilding them into a younger, sleeker, smoother unit.

Wigglesworth is a 24-year-old scrum-half who only made his England debut a couple of weeks ago, as a replacement against Italy. But the Sale …

Nani In, Giggsy Out!

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,
NANI

Little up start Nani has surely got talent! (AP Images)

He may be a cocky little bugger – as Justin Hoyte, William Gallas, Emmanuel Eboue and pretty much all of Arsenal’s players will agree – but there’s no denying Nani’s got talent. Far too much of it to be kept in the shadow of Ryan Giggs any longer.

Giggs is a Man Utd legend, and deservedly so, and he’s still worthy of a place in the current squad. But a regular starting role? Not so. Not any more. Alex Ferguson likes to repay loyalty with loyalty and Giggs has never let United down. He’s never played for anyone else, and has never really looked like doing so, either. But the Welshman turned …
