Leg 2 GUKPT Walsall

Leg 2 of the GUKPT kicks off tomorrow in Walsall. (Bodog Beat Image)

In 1874, the Walsall Arboretum was opened,  partly because the locals needed ‘a healthy change from dogfights, bull-baiting and cockfights’. (Ironically, a 2d (old pence) admission charge caused much growling, prodding of flanks and high pitched shrieking)

In 2008, locals who have tired of snarling canines may want to unleash their poker skills at the Grosvenor Casino, which is currently home to some legal combat as it is hosting Leg 2 of the GUKPT.  The main event starts at 3pm tomorrow and players will be hoping to sink their teeth into a treat that is expected to be worth over £100,000. The £1060 buy-in may be a tad more …

Fast friends Mel B and Ger Halliwell in the good old days. (AP Images)

Well there you have it!!! Legendary pop bitches and part time feuding Spice Girls of days long gone, Mel B and Geri Halliwell have kissed and made up. Or rather it seems that motherhood has softened the two mouthy cows and Scary Spice (a name well earned we think) has admitted that she was a b***h to Geri during the good old days. But the reunion tour has made their friendship much stronger.( What reunion tour? we hear you cry!)

She told Grazia magazine: "If Geri gets her dancing wrong now I tell her. But in the old days I may have done it in a b***hy way, …

FA Cup Predictions

Will Alex Ferguson be happy with the 2008 FA Cup Predictions? (AP Images)

Grand prediction time then. The 2008 FA Cup winners will be…. drum roll, please… one of the top four teams in the country!

Sorry if that sounds boring and predictable, but it’s time to face facts. This is what has become of the FA Cup, a competition raised on a reputation of shock results and giantkilling acts and plucky performances from the underdogs. Now it’s a competition which is ruled almost exclusively by the big guns – if we consider the ‘big four’ to be Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea, then those four have, between them, won the last 12 finals. The last 12! Everton, in 1995, was …

Happy Birthday Robbie, Here's Paris!

Poor Robbie Williams as if things couldn’t get any worse, Paris Hilton is moving in. (AP Images)

Not only is it Robbie’s 33rd birthday, he’s feeling a bit more glum than usual. Last year saw his old band mates make a whopping revival and the worm really did turn, as Robbie slipped further from the lime light. But to make matter worse his much loved peace and quiet (if that’s possible in La La Land) may be broken when heiress and alleged wannabe lesbo Paris Hilton moves in next door. The brazen hussy has moved in down the road from Rob’s Mulholland Estates and he’s doing his nut big style!

The Sun Newspaper said: "Paris has a new house five doors …

Lewis Hamilton's Racism-Free Race

Lewis Hamilton has a good day for McLaren in Jerez pre-season testing. (AP Images)

We all heard about Lewis Hamilton’s racist taunts at the pre-season testing at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, and were thoroughly ashamed of the Spaniards who booed as the McLaren driver came and went to the pits.

Yesterday saw the next round of testing at the Jerez circuit and we’re happy to report that there wasn’t a boo hiss in sight – or should that be sound! It just goes to show how strong the allegiance to former team mate Fernando Alonso is, we heard from all the bodies going: the FIA (The International Automobile Federation), the British sports minister Gerry Sutcliffe even the circuit director got …

Dwain Chambers Comeback Kid

Dwain Chambers gets thumbs up for World Indoor Championships in March. (AP Images)

We hold our hands up – we tried not to get into the Dwain Chambers drugs cheat debate but it seems we can’t escape it. The man is everywhere causing controversy - ruffling feathers left, right and centre and we can see why.

So what’s all the fuss about? The World Indoor Championships, that’s what! Our Dwain got caught with his pants down in 2003 (for the second time we might add) after testing positive for banned steroid THG, (tetrahydrogestrinone) he was banged up and away from his beloved sport for two years. With nothing better to do he tried his hand at American Football and failed and has …

Premier League Bosses Swot Up On Mosquito Idea

by Bodog Beat News Ticker,

Is mosquito deterrent enough to keep Cristiano Ronaldo at bay? (AP Images)

These new mosquito deterrent things they are using to warn off unruly youngsters are a cracking idea. At least that’s what I was recently told at a Premier League managers’ convention.

Several bosses (who shall remain un-named) told me they were having one hidden inside each crossbar for the the next time Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo come to visit. It’s probably the only way to stop them. United winning the Premier League? You’re having a laugh now they are rolling these things out across the land.

You can just see the Toxteth tearaway bearing down on goal, only the keeper to beat, when all …
